Using a trauma-informed and Universal Design approach, I help people and companies understand their role and specific steps to creating a better world where all can thrive.
Before launching JLC, I concluded ten years at IREX, a global development and education NGO, where I managed U.S. Department of State professional leadership development programs. There, I led the blended (in-person and virtual) Community Leadership Institute which trained over 800 global leaders in transformational leadership and co-created and led the Training Champs group streamlining instructional design across the 700-person organization. I also served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, co-designed a monthly diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism learning series program, trained staff and partners in the U.S., Jordan, El Salvador, Egypt, and Latvia, and led events and panels on disability inclusion. Through my role, I conducted international site visits to Cambodia, Colombia, Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, and Vietnam.
Before IREX, I worked at American University's School of International Service in the International Peace and Conflict Resolution Department and served on the board of the Dialogue Development Group. Previously, I served in AmeriCorps in Austin, Texas focusing on access to higher education for first generation youth, and before that I worked in publishing while involved on a committee at a girls’ education non-profit in Chicago.
All of these experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to work across cultures, find commonalities, bring together teams, and advance equity and inclusion.
Living with multiple chronic illnesses and an invisible disability, I have firsthand experience understanding how our societal structures are built with exclusionary designs. Barriers for entry into the workplace, and lack of inclusionary practices, are deeply ingrained in many organizations and work cultures.
Join me in changing this and creating spaces where everyone is welcomed and included, and where conflict is perceived as an opportunity for positive change.
I reside in Miami Beach, traveling often to DC and internationally to conduct trainings for global organizations. I serve on the Human Rights Committee, appointed by local commissioners, and volunteer with Clean Miami Beach. In my spare time, I love watching manatees at play and learning about the wildlife ecosystem in South Florida. I'm also an avid book reader and music lover, dabbling in acoustic guitar and keyboard.
